View your favoritesVedika means an altar or ground prepared for a sacrificial ceremony. Wiktionary records the Hindi word, and Monier-Williams gives related Sanskrit meanings including a sacrificial altar or ground. The name's sacred association therefore comes from ritual space. Its resemblance to Veda does not establish ‘knowledge’ as a meaning: the cited dictionaries connect vedikā with vedī, ‘altar’. Keeping that distinction makes the origin clearer without losing the name's religious context.

वेदिका is read ve-di-kaa, in three syllables with a long e, short i and long ending. Vedhika is another Roman spelling found in South Indian contexts. The d is made near the teeth; the added h is not represented by a separate aspirated consonant in वेदिका.
Also spelled Vedhika.
