View your favoritesDivya means ‘divine’, ‘heavenly’ or ‘celestial’, from Sanskrit divya. Wiktionary records the feminine Hindi form and its use as a given name, while the underlying adjective also has senses of beauty and wonder. ‘Divine’ is a direct dictionary meaning. ‘Radiant’ is a looser interpretation suggested by these associations, rather than a listed definition. The name's feminine form has a long final vowel, which the Roman spelling does not distinguish from the masculine form.

दिव्या is read div-yaa, in two syllables with a short i and a long ending. Keep v and y together rather than adding another vowel. Dibya is a Bengali form. The masculine दिव्य has a shorter final vowel, although it too can be written Divya in Roman letters.
